Ethereum (ETH)
Ethereum is a decentralized platform capable of running smart contracts and decentralized applications using blockchain technology. These are applications that work exactly as programmed without any possibility of censorship, fraud or interference from third parties, because the contract is immutable. It has a complete Turing decentralized virtual machine, the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), which can run scripts using an international network of public nodes.
Ethereum was founded by Vitalik Buterin in January 2014, and formally presented to the community in the form of a white paper. The formal definition of the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) was written by Gavin Wood.
Ethereum was funded as a crowdfunding project, the third largest project ever funded this way in history, and was launched on July 30, 2015.
